Ingresó en el instituto de arte local y ya en esta época creó unos diseños florales que llamaron mucho la atención de importantes calceterías italianas. En los años 70 inventó un método de estampado en el cuero y recibió encargos de Hermès y Pierre Cardin. A los 30 años presentó su colección en Prêt-à-Porter. En 1972 inaugura su primera boutique en Sant -Troper (Francia), primera de las muchas que después seguirían. En 1994 presenta sus primeros blue jeans gastados con arena. Cavalli abarca el mercado de hombre, mujer y niño y crea ropa, perfumes, lencería, zapatos, relojes y prácticamente todo tipo de accesorios y complementos. Está casado con Eva Düringer, quien había sido su compañera y socia comercial durante muchos años. ----oOo---- Italian designer. It was born in Florence.
